The Dex is an impressive place with great music to meet most tastes. It features a beautiful roof top in central Brixton set over 2 levels. Visitors can also enjoy wide views of Brixton from the venue's first floor location. There's also a small hotel on the top floor.
The downstairs pub has a late licence which is great for a late cheeky swift one.

The food is good in the standard Pizza Express way but the restaurant is in need of a spring make over. A little more natural light or just taking down the central wall would create the illusion of more space. This place is just too pokey and dark.
One of the more pleasant ways to spend an hour on West End Lane. Once an old Fish Shop, hence the name, the Wet Fish Fish Cafe sees yummy mummies, students and ladies lunching who work their way through the menu every day in large numbers. Service is personable and the menu whilst not being large offers quality food and not eye watering prices.
One of the oldest gay clubs in East London, BJ's White Swan has a great mix of fantastic cabaret, hot strippers and themed nights every night of the week. Sunday evenings see Ballroom, line dancing and Latin, camp and lots fun!
Ten plus years ago this was probably "the" place on Old Compton Street. The fact that its still up there says a lot about the owners, punters and the place in general. If I'm meeting a friend in Soho its still a good place to rendezvous and the food passes muster.
Broadway Market is not the hole it once was. Now small great cafes and eateries can be found dotted around, though the area still looks rough around the edges. Argentinean food is meat, tender full of flavour and at Santa Maria del Buen Ayre I was given a tour de force. With wooden floors and chatty South American waiters, this a perfect place to get acquainted with gaucho food.
A posh pub down by the river that sparkles in the sun, when we get some that is. A gastropub supreme with fairly standard modern pub fayre. A little pricey but then again this is Chelsea down by the water.
A New York diner with large American style breakfasts, all of the staples are here, pancakes, hash browns and eggs any which way you might want. The 8 seater booths are good fun if you are going with a party of friends, this adds to the general buzz as it can also feel like there are several little parties going on at once.
I've been to Low Life a few times and for some reason my partner loves it! Don’t get me wrong its Ok, The staff are friendly and serve up passable cocktails and drinks but the bar in itself is nothing special. The little basement venue is a DJ bar, with slightly tatty second hand retro furniture and spray painted walls.
Be careful when you visit as the last time we went the dj's played an hour long set of indie, punk, and rock, not to my taste at all but Peter loved it.

A large naturally lit gastro pub, full at lunch time and after work with local workers eating good fairly standard pub food. My burger with cheese and bacon came in at a tenner with some fantastic chips, that got shared around the table. The other menu options my group ate were, Thai chicken curry, blacken cod and a lovely ravioli dish served with mushrooms and cream. All were washed down with a jug of water and a bottle of house Red.
The food is not award winning but the Union is best placed to hoover up the local lunch time trade for serving good quality food at not for London, eye watering prices.
